No heat?

Furnace failure is no joke. In the depths of winter, going without heat can be dangerous, not to mention uncomfortable. While no one wants to go through this experience, it is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms that could indicate a furnace failure and what action should then be taken.

Common signs that your furnace has failed include a lack of warm air coming from the vents, no pilot light in the furnace (if you have an older model), no ignition or no flame for gas furnaces, or no response when attempting to turn on your furnace.

Before you call a heating contractor, make sure to check your thermostat. If the temperature is set lower than the actual room temperature, no heat will be produced. If your thermostat has batteries check them as well. Also, ensure that the switch is on and the circuit breaker for the furnace has not been tripped.

If you find that none of these problems are occurring, it’s time to call for someone to come to take a look at your furnace.

ATCO gas has an emergency contact number to call.
