Rain Gutter Overflowing
Check to see if your rain gutters are overflowing when it rains. It means they are plugged, loose, or sloped the wrong way.
If you notice this happening, it’s time to clean them. Rain gutters need to be cleaned at least twice a year, especially in areas with mature trees or shrubs around the home.
To clean your gutters, safely access the roof and use a ladder to get to the gutters. Then, using a garden trowel and bucket, scoop out any leaves, twigs, dirt, and debris from the gutters. Once all of the buildup is removed from the rain gutters, flush them with a hose to ensure that all clogs have been cleared away! If pesky tree limbs keep getting into your gutter system consider investing in leaf guards for added protection.
Leaf guards are a great way to protect your window well from debris while still allowing rainwater to flow freely. They attach to the rain gutter and keep out silt, dirt, leaves or other debris.
Cut tree limbs back from your roof. This will help to minimize the debris that makes it into your rain gutters and downspouts
